Going to jumpstart this topic!

Good Luck to all the 2016 hopefuls!

So I just got home and got my two letter saying I am an alternate for both campuses. So with all of those on here denying a seat at the other campuses, I'm hoping to be one of those who get their spot

Congrats jesse! Hope you get your spot :-)

Hello All,

Well I have good news for someone who is an alternate for the RN Generic WC. I accepted the LPN. I can't crunch the numbers to work even with student loans for 2 years and working PT. I'm single, have a mortgage etc... I can do the transition later. But congrats to the RN Alternate that gets that seat!

Being an LPN is great too :-) I have been for 5 years now. Good luck to you ♡

I really wish I knew how they based there selections because at least in generic some people got accepted that had close to the same as someone who was denied or an alternate. It's very strange.

I always wonder if the scores are really close if they look at overall gpa... last semester a couple people compared and it seems to be what it is...

I agree, I was trying to figure out if they look at GPA first or TEAS first or which is more important or what other factors like overall GPA bc it did ask about GPA in the application stating you need to have a 2.0 or greater. I mean there can only be a certain criteria they look for, I think it is unfair for them not to let applicants know what their getting themselves into before applying. Like if someone had a GPA of 3.30 but their TEAS were 93 but since their GPA was lower than other applicants even if they had the highest TEAS it wouldn't matter bc GPA is more important.

I guess that would make sense, but I feel overall GPA isn't a representation of what someone is capable of. I mean I can't count how many times a terrible teacher gave me B verses an A because I didn't have the same belief as them. Or the case how one semester a student may go through a difficult time (such as a family loss) and not be able to focus. I kind of feel like there should be interviews for the top 100 students who make the cut. Either way there is no real way to figure out who gets the spot more than someone else and I would guess that overall GPA would be the most logical way to do it.

My microbio teacher gave me an 89.4. I never missed a day and she never rounded it up. I was so mad :( The interview idea is a great one!

I just called Nancy and confirmed that the RN Generic program is daytime for Spring at Porter. So, I will be giving up my spot at West Campus. Hopefully someone on here will fill that spot! She also said it's best for them if you scan and email your response instead of bringing it in. She said it just helps to speed up the process.

Nancy also said that once they have processed our acceptance and we have filled the seat, they will be emailing us information packets.
