PHSC Nursing Hopefuls - Fall 2016

Published

Hey, PHSC students!

When I applied for both the generic RN and LPN program (I got into LPN), we had an interactive forum here and it really helped ease some tension and answer some questions. It also helped show where we stood amongst our peers. The next post on this forum will show the rankings as well as the 'formula' for admission. Happy posting.

The Point of This Forum

1) Which program you're applying for (LPN, RN, LPN-RN bridge).

2) Post your stats; prerequisite GPA, TEAS score, residency (Hernando/Pasco/etc.)

3) Have fun and meet potential peers.

Fall applications are due May 30th and the board will meet around mid-June. Letters will be sent out early in July.

This is a good site to check your PHSC prerequisite GPA since it doesn't include a v-- plus or minus system. --v

I'm planning on turning my application in for the generic RN program at the Porter Campus on Monday. My Teas is 86.7 and prerequisite GPA is 4.0 and I am a Pasco resident. My composite score is 93.3.

Don't forget, deadline to apply is the 31st since the 30th is a holiday. Best of luck to everyone. I will update the list soon. Been pretty busy picking up several hours on night shift. =)

Sincerely,

Michael [RN:Pending], LPN, CNA

I applied for LPN at WC. TEAS of 69.3 does residence count for lpn?

Is it + 5 or just preference over someone with the same score out of Pasco county.

+5 for pasco hernando resident

+5 for pasco hernando resident

Oh yay! Thanks for answering. That makes me feel like I actually have a chance in getting in! All this waiting is making me nervous.

Applying for the LPN to RN bridge program

1) GPA = 3.5

--> 39.38 points

2) TEAS = 78

--> 39

3) Hernando resident

--> 5 points

TOTAL: 83.38

Where did you get the formula? Doesn't it change?

I was going to apply for the RN until I saw this site. I see most going for the RN have a 4.0 and around an 80 on the TEAS. My GPA is 3.35 and my Teas was 70 I am a Pasco Co resident. So I appled for LPN program instead. I worked so hard, working and raising kids while I did the pre-reqs. I am reasonably intelligent but if I were 20 something perhaps my grades would have been higher. I just hope I get in to the LPN program now.

welcome to the waiting page. lol

It can definitely be a challenge! I have 4 kids, owned a company and am in my 40s. I spent a lot of time at 2 am crying, lol!! Good luck with the LPN application. It sure feels like the longest summer ever!!!
