Phone Interview

I had a phone interview yesterday, and after the interview, the manager told me he'll have to finish up interviewing the rest of the candidates and HR with get in contact with me when a decision is made. Now today, I've read on another website that one of the bad signs of an interview in when the interviewer tells you they have others to interview before a decision is made, and it's guaranteed you don't have the job.

Has anyone ever been offered a job after having the interviewer saying they have to finish up interviewing other candidates? I'm sick to my stomach with the idea that by him saying that, he's basically telling me he's not interested. :(

Really, there is no way to know. Most of the times that I've heard that, I did not get the job. But there was one instance where that wasn't the case. I was told that there was one other person that was under consideration, but ultimately I was offered a position.

I know its hard, but try not to read too much this, as you will only drive yourself crazy.:uhoh3:

Good luck, I hope you get the job!

Thanks! I'm still working as a LPN and really need a RN position so I can gain some experience. But majority of the employers I submitted applications to told me they are looking for RNs with at least one year of RN experience. It's frustrating, but I'm trying to stay optimistic!

Yes, I have gotten that speech and went on to get the job. My last job I interviewed with a non-nurse(school principal) about a school nurse position. She didn't have a clue what school nurses really do and I'm not too sure she was impressed with my extensive peds background. However, she did go on to interview others and I guess nobody else was a good match(or they didn't like the pay :uhoh3:). I stayed at that school for 2 years, then moved to my current school last month.

Remember, it's not personal. They don't hire or not hire someone because they're too tall or too brunette or wear weird shoes (obviously, if you go in reeking of alcohol or BO they'll turn you down). They're looking at experience and good personality fit. If you're a good fit, you'll get the job. If they don't pick you up, then you know that you weren't a good fit for THIS job. But you'll be a good fit for something else. It's a matter of finding your opportunity.:nurse:

Well first off if your working as a LPN in a similar hospital setting (assuming you are), how is that any different than RN experience!? I'm sorry but the only difference is the letters behind your name. The LPN's I've come across do just as much as the RN's. You are still a nurse!

That's all I got. Good Luck though!

I also thought that my experience on an acute care unit will pay off. But I might as well leave only my CNA experience on my resume, because majority of these facilities don't recognize LPN experience at all, no matter if it's acute care or not. After each rejection letter and no phone calls, I'm starting to doubt that being an RN was in my best interest.
