Hi, So I am a new RN with no nursing experience, but a lot of work/volunteer experience and had a phone interview with a local hospital. At the end of the phone interview the recruiter said she would submit my info to hiring manager to review with other canditates and would follow up that same week if intrested to do in-person interview. I know some other RNs who were offered in-person interviews at the end of phone interview for positions in different department, but also had a lot of experience as LPNs or CNAs. Is it bad sign if not offered in-person interview at end of phone interview? Could it be possible that if RN has no nursing experience, then hiring managers want to see info and if they have experience then hiring manager are comfortable with them moving foward without them reviewing?

It just depends on a lot of different things. It isn't a bad sign that you weren't offered right away. More likely, there are a large number of applicants. The phone interview is just an initial screening and those that don't sound completely off somehow get forwarded to the managers to pick and choose however many they want to interview. Those offered interviews on the spot either were pre-approved by the manager or the manager specifically asked for them based on an employee referral.
