Phone/I-PAD/Laptop/Tablet???

Published

hi all- i start my clinical portion of my program next semester and I am trying to get ready...i am planning to upgrade my phone (Samsung Galaxy) to the new version so I can get some apps on there that I know I will need.

Beyond that, what was your preference for classes/clinicals? I don't want to be hauling around all this technology with me that I don't or won't need, but I want to be prepared.

Also, what exactly did you USE your technology for? I'm trying to guage how much memory, data storage, etc I will need.

thanks!

whether it's my graduate education or for personal education, I prefer doing my work on a laptop. I still have to check with my program if a Mac pro that is 4 years old will be ok for the requirements of the online format. But I think a ipad with a keyboard is fine, but I prefer my mac book pro anyday

I had a combo of smartphone/ tablet/ laptop. Used the tablet in class for presentations/ reading, used the laptop at home for papers and assignments just because it was easier to work with that keyboard. Smartphone was invaluable during clinical rotations- loaded it with a bunch of free & paid apps. Still use it daily at my current NP job. Apps I really like: medscape, epocrates, eOpioid, NEJM, CDC antibiotics, EMRA Abx Guide, ICD9consult, PalmEM, Pain Guide, & AHRQePSS. We have UpToDate at work or I would have paid for the mobile app/ yearly fee for that as well.

I used epocrates every day in clinicals. Whether you get it for tablet or phone, its a necessity for me!
