Phoenix job market - new FNPs vs new RNs

Published

I'm a new BSN/RN who was hoping to move to Phoenix this year, because most of my family lives there. The job market has seemed quite discouraging, so I was worried - and as it turned out, I didn't even get one interview anywhere I applied. I have great grades and references, my compact state license in hand, very solid resume including hospital work in other roles, etc....nada.

Where I live now, I was offered a great position (the ED in a big hospital, day shift, my absolute first choice). Though I really would rather live in Phoenix, staying here for now seems like the sensible choice, so I took the job..

In the meantime, I'm working toward an MSN/FNP and wondering....is the job market in Phoenix any better for new-grad FNP's? Will I have a better shot than I do now as an RN? It's possible that I can arrange to do my FNP clinical practicums in AZ; hopefully that would help?

Any new FNP's out there, let me know your thoughts - thanks.
