Phlabotomy/LVN pay

Published

Hi all! I'm in the middle of LVN school and have heard if you obtain a phlabotomy license as well, this would mean another $2-$3 an hour right out of school because the employer is getting sort of a 2 for 1 deal? (not having to hire a phlabotomist). I live in Orange County CA. Does anyone have any specific knowledge on this or if it is worth getting the phlabotomist license when it comes to more pay?

Thanks!!

I do not think it would form the basis for more pay, but I would get the training for the increased job opportunities that having an additional skill set would offer. Most of the jobs that require the phlebotomy certificate that I have seen have been looking for CNAs with that certificate.

Hey,

I am a Phlebotomy instructor in GA and most of my students are nursing students and a lot of them have been telling me that if you have a Phleb Lisc you will get more money and since LPN and LVN are not taught to do Phleb they understand more in the long run regarding blood flow and knowing the veins. well that is what i was told.

I always say its better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it. because putting in IV's is way different then drawing blood.

Hope this is helpful
