Is anyone else having this problem-
I graudate in May. I started looking for jobs for after graduation last month. Since last month, I must have applied for 30 different positions, and only got calls for interviews from two- one place offered me the position and the other place I'm still waiting to hear back from.
Going into the job search, I was so cocky, I thought to myself "I can find a job anywhere, nurses are in demand!!" Well boy was I kidding myself!! Last month, I was offered a job at a hospital where I wasn't really impressed about the position, but could have put up with it for a year just to get the experience. I turned it down because I thought something better would come along. Once again, I was WRONG! :angryfire
I am SO fed up with calling nurse recruiters to "follow-up" after I send my application in. When I politely ask them if they received my online application, they are SO rude and usually respond with "well did you receive an email confirmation stating that it was sent it?" Which I always do, I'm just hoping that by calling them to follow up they will say "oh yes, we received your app and we were just about to call you to schedule an interview." Wishful thinking I guess..
Is anyone else having this problem? At first I was only applying to the inner city hospitals, but since then I've expanded my search to include hospitals in NJ (Copper), Bucks, Chester and Motgomery County.
I'm interested to hear how everyone else is doing in their job search. Please let me know. Thanks!!

I work in LTC and rehabilitation:wink2:. Give this a try. Please do think that its very slow and borning. I say no way:chuckle. We get patients admitted direct form hospitals or home with fresh amps, g-tubes, all types of adaptive equpt. IV's and more. We do hire new grads but just like a hospital be ready to run. Long term care is the new step down unit. We also provide hospice care and more. We don't send people back to the ER unless we have done all that we can do. Best of luck in your search.

My SO's an EMT and the word on the street is that Jeff has a hiring freeze right now. It's a tough time to be looking for a job- in any industry I think, but especially in a big city with many nursing programs.
Are you willing to relocate?
Thank you both for replying! Actually in the past week things have (finally) started to look up! I had two interviews last week, and one this week! I'm so excited to pass NCLEX and begin my career as a RN!
I'll keep you posted!
