Philly area schools?

Hey guys,

I'm in the process of applying to CRNA school for 2006, does anyone have the insider scoop on any of these schools: Montgomery Hospital, , Crozer/Chester, or Lourdes(in Camden)? I already got the inside scoop on Nazareth from one of the other threads and I'm not interested in applying to Penn. I'm interested in learning about the interview/application process at each school as well as impressions of the program itself. If you don't want to post it here feel free to PM me. Thanks!

Oh, I totally agree, CCU RN, but considering that there are lots of schools in Philly to chose from, I will apply to the other 5 first. That being said, becoming a CRNA is my ultimate goal and I will do whatever it takes-- that includes going into a ton of debt.

I absolutely agree. I am personally applying to a variety of schools on the east coast... Northeastern, St. Raphael's in CT, Upenn, , VCU, a Carolina school not sure which one yet, and Barry - a wide range of tuitions...hopefully I will have some choice as to were I go (acceptance wise :) )

Sorry, that was directed to EmeraldNYC... MRICU = medical respiratory ICU........ although often times I can say my ICU is awfully retarded...hehe

debt is one thing....drexel is expensive - totals around 50-60 k...

but penn totals around 120k..... there is no reason to be 2x more expensive than other schools.

One of the biggest issues I see is that the other area schools may follow suite and we will see large increases in tuition at those schools too. Even if not >$100,000, the "non-Ivy League" schools now have the door open to greatly increase their tuition. This could be very bad for those looking at Philly area schools in the future.

It puts the students at the mercy of the U. because as someone already said, I too would pay it (if I had no other alternative) so I could become a CRNA. You do what you have to to reach your goals!

Hi EmeraldNYL,

It's great to meet someone who attended 's Accelerated BSN program. I was accepted for this fall. Would you please provide a breif overview of what to expect. I would truely appreciated it.

Thanks for the info. guys. Yes, Drexel is definitely accepting apps for 2006, their class starts in Jan. I may hold off until Jan 2007 on them, then I would have time to sit for my CCRN exam before I apply (I have to wait until Oct. when I have a year of experience). I went to Drexel for my BSN, and because it was the accelerated program (my class was only the second) it was really disorganized. The financial aid dept. was a major PIA too. I am sure the anesthesia program is much, much better then my program was.

First, I'd like to say that I have no experience c/ 's Nursing School. I went to the "other" campus and got a degree in IT (computers) right when Drexel acquired Hahneman.

And based on that experience, I'd say that you should expect horrible things from the administration of that institution. They are by and large astoundingly incompetent. The one thing all Drexel students seemed to have in common was a deep and hateful resentment of the administration. I actually tried to change things for the better and was repaid by being slandered in the school newspaper by an administrator.

You should expect policies that make no sense, paperwork that is lost, a course registration system that IT majors couldn't figure out, and a mutual hatred between yourself and the administration.

Anyway, c/ regards to tuition... I wouldn't rule out a school c/ high tuition. I think you oughta apply and then apply for fin aid before making any decisions/generalizations.

I am getting my BSN at a very expensive private university, but with grants/scholarships, I'm actually paying less than I would at my local state university. Just something to keep in mind.
