i am here in the Philippines right now. i already file my CES and its status is WAITING FOR ENGLISH EXAM RESULT. im reviewing and practicing my English now, i have yet to take the TOEFL iBT...NJ BON sent me fingerprint card but i have an impaired finger skin integrity on my left thumb and right index finger due to hot glue burn. I don't know how long it will heal and have the fingerprint ridges again.(pls send info on how to gain the ridges fast!)...

Thread moved to the International Forum since it is specific to working in the US and not the Philippines. There are also several threads discussing licensure in NJ and the requirements for same. It is going to be the same no matter where one has graduated from, the requirements are the same.

CES takes on average four months to complete, they will not be able to do anything until you complete the requirements for that. It then is usually about a month before you will receive eligibility to sit for the NCLEX exam in most cases.

I would go ahead with the fingerprinting, you will be waiting months if it was a burn injury.

thanks for the reply ms.suzanne.

i hope to read more infos...

mattiya --- (i am not permitted to do PMs yet, sorry)

NJ BON requires to fulfill CGFNS CES first before they give ATT. Passing the local boards is a requirement of CES.

would there be a problem if I filed my application first to NJ BON before completing CES?

I filed my application to NJ BON Sept 2008 then I learned from a friend that I have to finish CES first. I mailed my application and payment to CES last wk of Oct and I believe my school and licensing ofc mailed my papers during those dates, too. I have yet to sit on toefl (i don't know when will i ever feel ready to take the exam.huhuhu)i'm planning to do so by 1st wk of March 2009.

NJ BON sent me fingerprint card Oct/Nov 2008 but i had a prob with my finger pads (they cracked and like peeling, losing the ridges). so im not done with that, too.

if there'll be prob, pls advise on what to do...

NJ BON requires to fulfill CGFNS CES first before they give ATT. Passing the local boards is a requirement of CES.

Sorry, but that is not correct. CGFNS does the credentials eval for a multitude of states; and it is dependent upon the requirements of the state that one is applying thru. If the state does not specifically have that posted on their website as a requirement, then CGFNS is not going to require it. Same as for the states that actually have an English requirement, then CGFNS will require it for the CES for that state. But if the state does not have the language requirement, then CGFNS is not going to ask for it.

Same goes for the local license. It is not required by all states either.

It comes down to the fact that the CES is an evaluation of your credentials and is done in place of a state having to do it; so they are trying to meet the requirements for the specific state and save everyone sometime.

Requirements are going to be different for each and every state, not all want to see the local license, nor do all have English requirements. So there cannot be a generalization made on this.

thanks for the clarification...

NJ will not do one single thing with your application until they have the CES in hand. I would also recommend that you go for the IELTS in place of the iBT exam; usually will have an easier time to pass the speaking section of this exam. This series can be used by immigration to meet the requirements for the VSC.

If fingers crack and peel, they still do not lose ridges. Only if there is burn to the area is there going to be any problem with them. But again, it is about four months before one gets the CES report completed on average so you have plenty of time for fingerprints.
