Hello,
I need some advice/guildline on this. I am trying to help my wife who has her Bachelor in Nursing from the Philippines but never took the board there. We are trying to figure out if she is allowed to take the Virginia NCLEX now or does she have to transfer her credits first too?
If she does have to transfer credits what company is the correct one to use/helpful?
I have done searches on it but everything i find is from other states and the only one from Virginia i could find was a different situation since they already passed the board in Philippines.

Start with the VA BoN and look at the application for licensing by examination as an internationally educated nurse. Generally credentials evaluation by CGFNS and demonstration of English language proficiency are the first steps.
You don't just take the NCLEX. Passing the NCLEX is one step in the process
Here you go, you cannot do anything until you contact the VA BoN:
If one or more apply to you, please contact the Board at (804) 367-4555 for further assistance:You are not a recent graduate from a RN state approved nursing education program; orIf you attended an education program outside of Virginia that did not provide a minimum of 500 hours of direct client care supervised by qualified faculty. [§18VAC90-20-120.E.]If you are a RN educated in a foreign country.

The one issue I've heard is that VA mandated a 4year HS diploma or equivalent it's my understanding that the education in the Philippines is three years of HS/the equivalent of grade 11. And as such additional assessment may be required
Great thanks for the quick advice! We are actually waiting on CGFNS to finish her paperwork now (didn't know she already started that process, which is great). I hope we don't have to take added classes but if we have to then that's the route we have to take.
I guess while we are waiting on CGFNS we can look into review centers in the area (its been a few years since she graduated and she said she will feel better reviewing first) and find out where she has to take her English proficiency test at.
As far as the HS diploma, I don't believe that's true. At least not for Va. She already took from Community College classes here with no problem about her HS Diploma. From what we researched Philippines Diploma are 4 years. Thanks for the heads up on that anyways. Wouldn't of been fun to find another block in the road
