hi there!
my phil rn license is about to expire, i am currently working as an rn here in the us. am i still obliged to renew my phil rn license?

You are not obliged but it would be hassle free if you renew it. Have your relatives renew it for you. Just write a letter to PRC, fill-out the online forms and mail it to your relatives with your old PRC card.
If you opt not to renew it, it will be placed in "inactive" status. I'm not sure what is the PRC's data retention policy if they will delete your file, but I guess once you have the PRC number, that's your lifetime number and license unless it will be revoked.
If your US BON require you to maintain all nursing registrations, then you have to renew the PRC license. Better to ask your US BON about this. Personally I would still renew my PRC card to avoid any future hassles.
