PHCC spring 2012 RN acceptance letters?

Published

:yeah:Has anyone received an acceptance letter for the RN program for PHCC Spring 2012????

Anyone buy their books yet? I am going today after work to get the rest of mine!

Isiah: Thanks for the words of encouragement! Congrats on almost being done!

Millsypoo, do you have all your books now?

Kraole: I forgot they closed at 4:30 today, so I have to wait till Monday now... my husband is in PA school and I bought him a Littman. So I will probably go with the same... just not as expensive as the one he has.

Did you check the books required thru the phcc bookstore online vs. the list that they give us? I notied that the Fundamentals of Success book is listed as edition 2 on the paper we received, but the bookstore online says edition 3. I'm getting a Littmann as well, but I don't know if I want a color or not.

On the paperwork (Buzzy Bee Bulletin, page 2) we got in orientation it says we're not supposed to get supplies until after the first day of class. It lists the stethoscope, watch, bandage scissors, ballpoint pen (that makes no sense), hemostat, and blood pressure kit as items to wait on. I think I might wait on the stethoscope until after the first day, but the rest of the stuff I'll probably get. I dunno.

Mazajuma- Thanks! I didn't get that bulletin. Have you gotten your books yet?

No I haven't yet, waiting for Pell and loans to come in. The first day for Pell is Jan. 3, but you have to have 45 credits or more.

I don't qualify for Pell, so I have to pay out of pocket. I want to shop around through amazon, bigwords, bookstore, etc.. early. We have as many books for our first semester as I did for all my classes in any given semester for my bachelors. EESH!

The booklist from orientation will often be outdated. Either call or go to the campus bookstore directly to get the ISBN #'s off the backs of the books. The publisher will always try to get you to purchase a package deal through the bookstore, but that's only useful if you'd utilize an e-book or supplemental info. on a disk. The study guides are practically useless as most lectures are Powerpoint based and the textbooks are supplemental to that. But, things do change and vary from professor to professor. I found most of my books the 1st 2 semesters off Amazon since they do free shipping and you can actually buy package deals on there too (book, disk, study guide, ect.). A stethoscope will DEFINITELY be needed for lab, check-offs, and clinical. I'd recommend a Littmann and getting some kind of of identifier (tape, engraving, diff. color ear pieces) on it so you'd know it's yours if someone accidentally picks it up. If you don't have one, may want to invest in a recorder since some professors will repeat particulars in lecture that may be on the exam (if you're an auditory learner that is). Also, studying for these exams will be entirely different than learning the body like a road map in API and APII. Just be open to change and figure out how to best learn what's given!

How and where can you get your stethoscope engraved? The only thing I saw was tags that you can get engraved.

Hi all... I am going today after work to get my books. I did find some of the books on Amazon, so I will save a few $$$'s that way, the rest I will get from the book store.

Saturday night, I was at a friends Christmas party and received a very special and generous gift along with a beautiful card, I got a Littman Cardiology III with a duel head, engraved, and in cranberry. I was so tickled!
