hello,

i was wonderin if anyone who has taken or taking pharmacology at a more organized school than mine....lol can tell me what are some of the most common drugs to focus on remembering. i asked my instructor but she was not very detailed just said it will not be on every drug in the book just the most common ones. This course only goes for 4 weeks and im going into week 2 and there are a million drugs!! I just dont wanna be blindsided and fail out. ive been doing very good so far considering my school has no organization and alot of concepts i am left to self teach and study on my own. Any suggestions??????

I took Pharm at my community college and my teacher told us to only remember the prototype drugs. That was mostly what she lectured on anyways but sometimes she would be talking about non-prototype drugs and she would remind us that NO, you do not have to know this drug. She was really clear on what we needed to know.. I doubt this helps but my advice would be to focus on the prototypes.

Good luck :)

Yup, the prototypes. DIGOXIN! LASIX! ASA, Dilantin, Haldol...those are the ones I'd focus on. And for the love of all things Holy, know your Dig levels and don't ever forget it. Toxicity sxs of it too. You will need it many, many more times.
