Our ADN program needs to develop a 16-week Pharm Module for 1st semester students for Spring 07.
What we have thus far: pharmacokinetics, drug classifications, pain mgt, opiates & adjuvants, & nursing process.
Does anyone have an existing semester Pharm Module outline that they could share? Does your program have separate Pharm Module? Which semester do you teach Pharm? If you teach in 1st semester, how much detail do you provide? You can email me if needed.
Thank you in advance.

I teach pharm in an ADN program. It is placed in the second semester of a five semester program. We allot 64 contact hours, but it is a one credit course that runs for 16 weeks. Our program is structured as a body system approach. Pharm runs contiguous with med surg. For instance, when we are covering the respiratory system in med surg, we discuss resp meds in pharm. We find that students need to complete A&P before they will be able to understand pharm.

My main suggestion is to find a text that is organized in a way that complements your curriculum and organize your course as best you can that way. It is challenging to find a text written at the appropriate level.

Hi,
Our ADRN program is also planning on initiating a pharm course in second semester of 4 semester program. We are planning to make it a 3 credit course - we have not had good experience w/ 1 credit courses historically. Would love to hear what your experience is w/ 1 credit course and how it is structured. Thank you
