Pharmacology Drug Cards by Pharmacological Classification (not therapeutic class)

Nursing Students Student Assist

Published

Hi, I am a PN student with a question regarding an assignment for Pharmacology. We have the standard assignment of doing Drug Cards, but the professor wants us to do them by Pharmacological Classification instead of the traditional Therapeutic Classification. I am using the 12th edition of "Davis's Drug Guide for Nurses". The Classification section in the beginning of the book lists drugs by Therapeutic Classification. Does anyone know of a resource that lists by Pharmacological Classification, or an easier way to go about this project. As it stands, I am finding that I need to look compare/contrast commonalities between drugs listed under a particular pharmacological classification in order to find how that pharm class works on the body. Help please!

These are the data we need to fulfill for each drug card:

Drug Classification

Pharmacologic:

Therapeutic:

The Organ(s) Targeted:

Therapeutic or Expected Effect(s)

What will you expect to see (in your own

words):

Nursing Actions

specific assessments:

cautious use:

lab work to monitor:

side-effects:

food-drug interactions:

Patient Teaching:

Drugs in this Classification:

Specializes in ER/ICU/STICU.

That's great! Thank you, ckh23!
