Pharmacist with disciplinary action considering nursing school

Dear Nurse Beth,

Should I start this nursing school or no? I have been looking for a job now before COVID and nothing still. I had  an NABP (National practitioner bata base report) entry and a prior disciplinary action on my license (though it's been reified and now active again, but I have not been able to use since then.} Already owed 200k from my PharmD student loans and this BSN program (1yr) will cost me another 40k. Is it worth doing or not? please I welcome any genuine input, and what you will do if u are in my shoes.

Dear Is it worth it?

From what I gather, you are a Pharmacist with a disciplinary action on your active Pharmacist license and are considering nursing as a career.

You will have to report the disciplinary action to the BON or BRN when you apply to take the NCLEX, if that's what you're asking. The BON/BRN will evaluate your situation, and then make a case-by-case decision based on the nature of the action and your rehabilitation, among other things.

The BON/BRN never makes any guarantees. You would have to apply to nursing school, be accepted, graduate, and apply for the NCLEX. At that point they would render a decision.

Without knowing your options, your aptitude, your interests...I can only say that a Pharmacy to Nursing track is unusual. I have a lot of respect for the many Pharmacists I've worked with, but I've never pegged them as nursing types.

Take a good look at what nursing is, day in and day out. Make sure it's for you, and not just a re-bound choice.

Best wishes,

Nurse Beth
