Hi. I just wanna ask what does PICU, CENICU, PACU and, NSSCU, stand for? Also, i want to ask if you know what date will be the Apcn for 2011 will be? i had problems with my requirements so I wouldn't be able to submit this December 9 for next year's APCN.

hi.. im back my panel interview was postponed. it will be on Oct 21, 2010.. hope this is it because im already here in Manila. doin' nothing! hihihi can anyone advice me what to read in prep for my interview? thanks xoxo

PICU- PEDIA INTENSIVE CARE UNIT

CENICU- CENTRAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT (THE PAY ICU) located at 2/F central block of PGH

PACU- POST ANESTHESIA CARE UNIT (located at 3/F LEFT CENTRAL BLOCK)

NSSCU- NEUROSURGICAL SPECIAL CARE UNIT located at WARD 6 (Neurosurgey Ward)

I am currently employed at PGH. hmmm... The one who posted this thread might already have the answer to his questions but I would still answer it just the same.
Well, for those of you who are still about to apply at my beloved hospital (wow, with feelings), you can apply because it is on continuous hiring. But, it is for manpower pooling only as of the moment. They would like to empty the thousand of applicants who have finished the panel interview and exam first before starting new batches. When I wrote thousands, I mean THOUSANDS (no kidding). We have our own version of retrogression at PGH. The priority date is 2007 hirees for deployment. The opening in Canada has paved the way to increase the transition rate of PGH employees. Usually our deployment rate is about 10 nurses per batch per month at an average. If there are any questions, please feel free to buzz me (The Singing Bee in combo with The Buzz.. hehe..).

Ok, let's put it this way, assuming that you are the employer, will you hire a person that has no plans to stay in your company after training you? I guess no, right? Well, that's my answer. They will ask you about your plans in 5-10 years time. How do you see yourself 10 years from now? About procedures, I wasn't asked about procedures. But if they will ask you I think they will definitely focus on suctioning, intradermal (skin testing) injections, foley catheterization and NGT insertion. Very basic nursing procedures.. so I think you will do good. Rarely do someone fail from the panel interview or even the final interview. They will also ask you your preferred area. Most likely if they have any opening they will put you in their.

to my fellow nurses: about the deans form from the net
pgh don't recognized the deans form downloaded from the net... i called the hospital last july to ask about the APCN training... the coordinator told me that you should call by the first week of oct. to know when would be the release of the dean's form... then i ask about the dean's form from the net... she told me that they don't post any dean form in the net, and dont know anything about it.... i called last oct 5... then they told me the release would be oct 6.... luckily i got a recognized deans form for the APCN training....
to all who got it... hope we can make it in the exam... its really difficult as it said by the others who took it...

FYI at your post " the APCN form is downloadable at net dude"

APCN form is only distributed at DNET PGH-- this is the only form that they will accept on december 2010 ; they also have LIST of applicants LAST OCTober 06 2010....
They only distribute 200+ forms that has signiture from the DNET office.... attach with this forms is the instructions and requirements about APCN.....
DEans form that are downloaded from PGH yahoogroup is only for employment not for training
PLease be guided accordingly

good day fellow nurses! I'm about to have an exam this january 20 for the APCN, I just would like to know what will be our attire? Is it in clinical white uniform or just in civilian attire? thanks a lot everyone and happy new year!
