Personal medical advice needed

Hi there,

I am a new student on the boards and have a personal advice question.

I am having pain which I believe is in my kidneys, mostly the right side. It is not extremely painful....just an aching feeling that is there consistently every day for about the past month. Before that, it was occasional.

I have had a prior kidney infection that I was hospitalized with 21 years ago during a pregnancy. With that infection I had sharp pain and a high fever.

I do not have any symptoms of a kidney infection (burning during urination, etc). I only have this dull aching and am extremely fatigued...I just want to sleep.

Could I have a kidney infection with none of the obvious symptoms? Would you recommend seeing my md? I just feel like I don't really have enough symptoms to bother him.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Wendy

Absolutely see your MD and ASAP!!! And get over the idea that you're "bothering" him. You are HIRING him to do a job & he is being paid for it.

As far as symptoms, it could be an infection, but could be many other things as well. The extreme fatigue worries me. See the doc & tell him the same thing you said here. Insist on a thorough exam, bloodwork, urinalysis, if he doesn't suggest it. I also think a pelvic exam & probably an ultrasound or ct scan is in order. Good luck and keep us posted. And see the MD at the very EARLIEST opportunity-do not allow the office staff to put you off. Insist on speaking to the doc if they can't fit you in in the next day or 2 and tell him the problem.

ditto

we need to ask for what we want from our dr's that is what they get the big $$$$$ for,

be well

Get yer ass to the MD ASAP...pain is the body's way of saying something is wrong. Good luck!!!
