Perfect GPA ruined by 3 tenths of a point!

Published

I recieved a 89.2 in my English Comp class, and recieved a 3.5. In my school, points are as follows

A 4.0

B+ 3.5

B 3

C+ 2.5

C 2

D+ 1.5

D 1

F 0

Do all schools calculate GPA's this way? I would have hoped that for a 89, I would get a 3.9, but with this set up I was stuck with a 3.5 for the course. I got solid "A's" in all my other classes, Intermediate Algebra, Anatomy and Physiology I & Lab, but the 3.5 I recieved for English drops my GPA to 3.85 for my first term. And I know that's still pretty good, and my school's only requirment for GPA is to maintain 2.5, and there is a first-come-first-serve system in place so a 4.0 would not translate into an earlier entrance into the program. I just find myself extremely fustrated that after all my hard work, my overall GPA is docked so much for 3 tenths of one point!

It is frustrating but such as life.

At some of my schools (5 so far), anything less than an 89.9 would be a B and hence 3 grade points. At others it would've been a B+ and hence 3.3 grade points (an A- would be 3.7 grade points).

Try to let it go; it's not worth the angst.
