Hi all,I would like to hear from nurses that work Per Diem in a different state from where they live. I am planning on keeping my job in San Diego,CA and move to Hawaii (husband is military). My job requirements are 4 shifts/mo (incl. 1 weekend out of the 4 shifts). I am fr San Diego and I have family here that I can stay with while I come down to do my shifts so that's not a problem. I am planning on doing this for a year (work end of each month..beginning of the next month etc.) Tell me the good/bad.. is it doable?
Why? Is there some long term goal you're working toward? That seems like it would get old fast.
I've heard of people doing this for jobs in Nor Cal, where the salary is typically in the 70s+ per hour. San Diego, in my experience, doesn't get that high. Totally up to you, though! I think a lot of it would depend on how expensive it is to fly back and forth from Hawaii. It might be worth it to spend two weeks in Cali every couple of months, if only to see family/friends and work!
