per diem rates

What does your hospital pay in per diem? I am in so cal, looking to reentering the work force at a per diem position. Work is on weekend only, 12 hr shifts and they offer only $32.80/hr. You work three weekends and are off one but they pay you anyways so it is more like $43/hr because of that..... but it still seems low. I used to work per diem in no cali and made $38/hr three years ago.

it's been a long time since i've been able to work pd, but last time i did it was $40/hr. and, our upper mgmt decided that we don't get it for the full 12 hours. it's only pd if you have worked 40 hours that week. so for me, a 36 hr employee (which is considered full time), the first 4 hours of the extra shift is only ot. or, for pt employees (24 hr/week), they still have to reach 40 hours before they can get pd. 2 years ago our pd rate used to be $50/hr.
