Hi! I was wondering what study materials (books, cd's, classes) seemed to help you out the most when it came time to taking the NCLEX? I did a search already and it seems like the Saunders book is good. What do you recommend?

I graduate in April and I've received more A's than B's in nursing school but reading about the NCLEX posts here makes me want to start early. Thanks! :nurse:

I used the Saunders Comprhensive Review for NCLEX book...I mostly focused on the CD-ROM for the test...unfortunately I am still waiting to get my test results back...so I cant tell you if it helped or not....the questions were definately hard but all you can do is practice and study what you have been taught.

GOOD LUCK!!:D

I liked the Saunders too, had nice visuals if you're a visual learner like me. I also bought Feuer's CD's package. It reallly helped! I had to commute to school, so took advantage of that time and listened to the CD's. They were interesting and fun. We had to do the Kaplan through school and I wasn't too impressed. Good luck!

Thanks to both of you!:D I've read reviews of the NCLEX books online at amazon and have done searches on here and I think I have it narrowed down. There's the Kaplan book and Saunders but I'm leaning more toward Saunders now.;) The Mosby and Lippincott ones seem pretty nice also though. I have to keep reminding myself that I only have enough money to get *one* book, which is why I'm all about finding the best preparation book that I can!

I'm going to flip through both of them at the bookstore and see which one is fatter (LOL!), seems to have good questions, and which one is more affordable!

Nrs. LaLa-Land, you must be so anxious to find out how you did but I just wanted to tell you to have confidence in yourself and that I hope you did well.:)

I had purchased both the Mosby and a Kaplan book. The Kaplan focuses more on test taking skills and strategy while the Mosby is more of a comprehensive of all the systems. I think together they are a complete package! The Mosby is quite comparable to the Saunders. I have a few classmates that bought saunders and said they have a lot of questions on each system. I took the boards already and the more questions that you answer prior to the test the better. It helped me and made me feel more confident walking in there. I felt as if I had the upper hand walking in there because i was prepared.. It must have paid off too because I passed. Good luck !!

I recommend Saunders & Kaplan. NCLEX review Books & CD-ROMS.

I found the most helpful books to be the Kaplan review (2003-2004-2005 whatever the year is) for test-taking strageties and explaining how the test works.

The best help for NCLEX questions was the Lippincott book "NCLEX RN" - the questions are broken down by system or problem, and they are very difficult. I found the Lippincott questions to be much harder than the actual NCLEX was, so if you can get comfortable with the Lippincott, you should have no problem.

I also used a tutorial package called "ACE It" by Springhouse - it provided a review by systems, along with videocassettes that I really liked. It helps me to learn by using a variety of methods - auditory as well as just reading.

I hope that this helps, and good luck - you are certainly doing the right thing by starting to prepare early!

Kaplan NCLEX Review is what I used, plus I took the week long review course. :coollook:

I just passed NCLEX,and I used Mosby's 4th edition (good CD), I also used NCLEX-RN Made Incredibly Easy... this book really put thing in good perspective and the CD was amazing!!! I also used the NCLEX-PN Incred. easy when I took my LPN.

The other book I used was a book (paraphrasing the title becasue I loaned it to a friend) 3000 Nursing Tips, this was a book of 3000 simple facts like .." in Celiac disease, patients are allowed to eat Rice and Corn"....

Simple tips that stick in your head.

Good luck and make sure yo rest the day before your exam.
