Hello Everyone,
I may be jumping the gun a little early, but I wanted to start a support thread for anyone who graduated, is currently in, or is a future hopeful to the Penn Valley nursing program. I will be applying in January 2016 for the Fall 2016 ADN program. Hopefully through this thread, any questions anyone has will be able to be answered by another poster. A little about me, in case others want to add their own story. I am 21 years old and after a few years of trying to figure out my path in life, I found nursing. I love to help other people and am looking forward to learn the skills and knowledge to be able to apply my passion to real life situations. I have completed my pre-reqs and gen eds required to apply. I am able/will apply to a BSN program after this semester, but realistically I would like to get my degree at a much cheaper price at Penn Valley and bridge to a BSN program after I begin working as an RN (as I assume most of us would). If anyone has any questions about me, I would love to share more and learn about others I may be seeing in the near future in classes or workplace.
Good Luck!
Erik

Hey Erik- Saw your post but I wasn't sure which Penn Valley program you are referring to? There are several schools across the country that have the name Penny Valley. What state is your program in?

Hello, Erik! My name is Aly. I, too have submitted my 2016 RN application in January. The wait is tedious, isn't it?
I have all of my general education requirements finished as well besides micro. I am planning on finishing that in the summer but wanted to jump the gun and try my luck.
I have also been contemplating whether or not to go to a 4 year doing a BSN but like you mentioned, the price and cost of going that route is expensive. UMKC has a 3 year option that looks really awesome. It's just hard trying to figure out that option when I have to work FT.
I have also considered applying for the LPN program as well just to get my feet in the door. It would be the slower routed but more affordable and practical way about going about it but I would much rather get into the RN!
My sister got into the RN program and loved it. She's an RN now at St. Luke's.
It's hard deciding what to do and get a little nerve racking. í ½í¸ I don't think I've slept well ever since I've turned in my application!!!!!
I'm an older non traditional student. (28)...I really am hoping I hear back soon about my acceptance at PV. I think we should hear back mid March, based on other threads that I have seen on here.
How are you feeling about this? Do you have Micro finished? I'm sure you'll get in! Just stay positive!!!!
Good luck!!!!!!!!!! Maybe we'll be in the same class, who knows?!
Alyssa
I'm assuming he's talking about the one in KCMO????

I've just been accepted into the ADN program at Penn Valley for Fall 2016. I was wondering if anyone could provide me with a recent class schedule or a sample? I have a very flexible employer (hospital) but I will still be expected to work full time at least the first semester to get the tuition reimbursement. Anyone? Thanks Much
I just got accepted too! I can ask my sister. She just graduated from there. Ill let you know! Congrats! Look forward to meeting you!
You too. Jenny is my name. I'm sure I will see you sooner than later. :)
My name is Alyssa! I too, have been curious about the schedule! I work FT now but won't have as flexible scheduling like you so I'll need to figure something out. :)

Hi!
I was just accepted to the ADN program for fall 2016 for Penn valley in KCMO. Can't wait to get started!!
Can't wait to meet you! Congrats! What's your name?
Jerri, looking forward to meeting everyone at our freshman meeting.
I am currently in the MCC-PV program (first semester). This is my schedule this semester (keep in mind this may not be the same next semester):
Mon 2-4 Concepts
Tues 8:30-12:20 Fundamentals
Wed 8-12 skills lab first 3 weeks (skills lab was based on your clinical day)
Wed 7-3 Clinical (7 weeks total) some in my class have clinical on Thur or Fri
Skills check off & virtual Hospital: varies week to week. My dates for these are either Mon, Wed (when I don't have clinical), or Thurs.
Fri is the only day I do not have anything on campus.
I would keep your schedule open Mon-Fri 8-4 (or be able to re-arrange it). You may or may not receive a detailed schedule at orientation. We did but other classes didn't.
There are people in the program who are working part-time or full-time. I honestly I don't know how well they are doing.
I spend 7 days a week studying-for me personally I could not be successful if I was working. That is something you have to judge for yourself.
Best wishes and congrats!
