Has anyone else been accepted for Fall 2013 into PSU Altoona's Second Degree Nursing Program? I just recieved my letter of acceptance and am looking to meet more people in the program and hoping to find a possible roommate. I haven't looked into housing yet, but want to make some friends before moving to Altoona. If anyone has more information on this program or knows someone who has been accepted into the program please let me know.

Hi,
I also got accepted into the Fall 2013 Altoona Second Degree Nursing Program! However, I haven't heard anything other than receiving my acceptance letter back in early February. I am also looking to meet others in the program before moving to Altoona in the fall. What kind of housing do you think you are going to look for, on-campus or off-campus? I put my name on the waitlist for on-campus housing because I'm not sure where to look or who to room with as of now.
I also haven't recieved anything yet except my letter of acceptance. Ummm probably on-campus housing, anything that is walking distance to class and somewhere I can have my own bedroom. I have never been to the altoona campus so I need to go and tour it. I am currently a Senior at University Park Penn State studyiung HDFS, I graduate in May. How about you?
I'm also a senior at UP! I'm a BBH major and graduating in May too. I want to go visit the Altoona campus too because I also haven't been there yet either. On-campus housing is what I want to do too because I don't want to worry about finding an apt and signing a lease and all that. I'll probably just get a meal plan too just so it's more convenient. When do you think you will go visit Altoona? Hopefully we hear from them again soon because I don't really know what's going on from here...

ewlsn14 - No way! Add me on facebook (Nicole Vitkuske) maybe we can try and meet up for lunch before graudation and talk about the program! I will probably visit the campus over the summer becuase I'm doing an internship right now and working so I don't have a lot of time. I would so on-campus housing as long as I would have my own room. I lived in the dorms once at UP and it was in East Halls lol not fun. Yeah I still haven't heard anything from them, they said late march/early april we should recieve something in the mail so hopefully soon!

Hi guys! I was recently accepted into the second degree program as well. I will be commuting from Somerset pa which is about an hour away. I would be interested in carpooling if anyone else is from this way. I haven't received any information since the acceptance letter. I am very anxious yet excited for this experience. It's great to hear from some others who hve been accepted. I am very nervous because I am a full time mommy to a 9 month old and a wife! I graduated in 2012 with a health sciences degree from Drexel university.
Hey Nicole!
Sorry I don't have Facebook anymore or I'd add you but we should definitely meet up before graduating! I was actually driving pass Altoona this past weekend and stopped for a few minutes to take a look at the campus. It was very nice (but nothing compared to UP obviously). And I know what you mean about sharing a room. I've had my own bedroom in Nittany Apts now for 2 years so it'd be hard to go back to sharing ha but I really want to live on-campus. I hear Cedar is a really nice building. I have twitter if you'd rather direct message me (if you have it too) @EM_ily_Wilson
Congratulations on your acceptance as well! I wish I could help with carpooling but I'll be living in Altoona since my hometown is near Maryland. I am also excited for the experience! Don't be nervous though, I'm sure you'll do just fine with school and caring for your baby :) Can't wait to meet you and see you around Altoona!
[COLOR=#003366]wysiwyg34 - CONGRATS! I'm so happy to be meeting people before beginning the program! It sounds like it is going to be a great group of people! I am actually from State College and my family lives here so I wouldn't be able to carpool. I am still trying to decide if I should commute every day or move to altoona, I know its not that far I just am unsure if I want to make the drive everyday. And I'm sure you will be fine in the program, we will all work through it together :)
[COLOR=#003366]ewlsn14 - yes I do have a twitter (mines @nshea08) I will try and find you! I think I'm just so unfamiliar with the area I don't know any of the on or off campus housing lol I need to go visit and check out all the buildings to see where I would want to live. But I wouldn't be opposed to living on campus. I lived in Caulder Commons last year and had to share a room with two other girls, it wasn't bad just a little cramped lol. Have either of you girls recieved your nursing packets yet? I haven't and Dr. Kuhn said late march/early april so hopefully we will get them soon!
No i haven't received anything yet. I wonder if they will be sent to my house back home or if it will be sent to my address up here at Penn State. I'll let you girls know if I get mine soon! And let me know if you hear anything! Also Nicole, let me know if you're free to meet up somewhere downtown or on campus!
When I spoke to Suzanne a few weeks ago she mentioned we would receive something by the end of the first week of April so maybe it is on its way! Did either of you find any information on tuition? I couldn't find the second degree specifically on the bursar web page. I'm wondering if its the same as a four year degree would be.
