Pell City Jeff State Applicant

U.S.A. Alabama

Hello everyone,

I have applied to the Jeff State Pell city campus program for Fall 2016. I'm applying with a 233. I got a 132 on my TEAS test and I have a 4.0 in my prerequisite courses, I also have my math courses finished. I already have a B.S. in Kinesiology with a concentration in Nutrition and a Minor in Biology. I am wondering if there is anyone out there who has completed the Pell City program who could offer some tips about the program. I have heard it is very difficult and that the graduation rate is pretty low. However I feel having a 4 year degree in Nutrition and a background in biology will help me. I am absolutely terrified about nursing school. I am also worried I will not get accepted. Just looking for advice for the program! Also when was everyone told acceptance letters go out? I was told by an advisor the second week in June.

I have applied to the RN program also. I have talked to two or three people who failed out of their first or second semester. They said that the program was extremely hard. I am so scared I am going to get in, and then flunk out. You should be fine with your score! Last year pretty much everyone got in that had above a 180. I have 193 points and the nursing advisor said that I shouldn't have any problem. Is Pell City the only campus you applied to? I live about 25 minutes away from Pell City, and about an hour from all the other campuses, but I applied to all of them just in case. I have also applied to Gadsden State for their RN program. If I get into Gadsden, that is where I am going to go. But I will take anything, lol!

I only applied at Pell City because I live in Jacksonville, AL! So we might be pretty close to one another! Gadsden state would not accept my anatomy and physiology because it was too high of a level. If we both go to Pell city we can study together! I refuse to fail out! My friends went to Pell city nursing and said its hard but it's doable!

I am going to go into the program knowing how hard I am going to have to work. I have a 4.0 in all of my pre-reqs so I feel like I am as prepared as I can be. You are definitely prepared with your background. I am actually in Talladega, so sadly we aren't too close. Hopefully we will find out pretty soon, last year it wasn't until the last week of June. It sucks being in limbo and waiting. I feel like all I do is check my email and hope for news.

The program is known to be difficult or a challenge. This is to our advantage, in the job market because employers feel Jeff State graduates are more prepared, ready to enter into the work force because its known to be one of the more difficult programs to complete. We have an edge upon graduation, others do not have.

That is true. I have heard that many employers would rather hire a Jeff State graduate over a UAB graduate. They really prepare you for the job.

I am also curious about the Pell City program. I put that as my #1 choice, with a score of 225.5. Shelby was my second choice. I hope I didn't make a mistake, in that I chose a more difficult campus, but really it is the closest one to us.

They say Pell City campus is the least competitive to get into.

I'm at Pell City. Hi. Been so busy meeting requirements. Can't wait. But nervous too.
