pediatric home health in Boston MA

:wink2: Can anyone please tell me what the going rate is for both home health shift work and per visit? I really need to get out of my hospital job! I need to find out if I can survive on a home health salary. I would really appreciate any info you can give me. Thanks.

Without identifying yourself you can call agencies and ask this question. Of course, the recruiter will want to speak to you about working for them but all you have to do is say you are inquiring only, to see if you want to leave your present job, and thank them for their time.

Thanks for replying. I'm just kind of stuck and don't know what to do. I've been a nurse for 15yrs - I'm making $47/hr as a staff RN on a pedi floor, which is great but I hate that I can't get a day off when I need it. I'm working holidays and every other weekend on the eve shift. So, basically I have no life. I was just wondering if I had any chance of making at least $40 in Home care. I hope I find some good news somewhere. Wish me luck!

Specializes in med-surg, teaching, cardiac, priv. duty.

In regards to private duty (home health shift work), pay is very poor compared to the hospital. When I switched from the hospital to private duty, I took about a 40% pay cut. Through an agency, typical hourly pay would be $18 - $22/hour depending on where you are in the USA. Yes, that is for RN's. I make right in the middle of that. An area like Boston could be better though!!! I am in the Southeast. But I would not hold your breath....

Not only that...I've been doing private duty for over 4 years now, and my pay rate has stayed the exact same. Not even a 25 cent raise. Grrrrrr.....
