Hey rngrl...I took the PCCN not too long ago so I can give a little advice. I studied my nursing med surg book. I know it sounds awful. But I just went through the list of items from the PCCN review list and looked up these topics. I really think that is what helped me the most. Also I listened to some review cd's which were great. Type in a search for "PCCN". A couple of us had some discussions some time back about it. Good luck!!!
I did the same as limabean. I was the first on our unit and hospital to take this exam. After I did, they set up a class allowing only ten in (and they paid for their exam-not mine though).
This WAS a difficult test, but so worth the time, effort and expense expended!
There are now four of us on the unit who can put those credentials behind our name.
I am so PROUD!
Good luck..and, oh, I am now studying to take the CMC and expect to take this exam probably in January (just prior to my yearly review).
Does anyone have any tips for the CMC? I bought the review course, and also read the latest journal articles on the four subjects.
And of course, have the old stand by Med-Surg books on hand.
Thanks
I TOOK THE PCCN IN SEPT AND DID NOT PASS I STUDIED FROM CD AND BOOK THAT I FOUND DID NOT HELP, SO NOW I HAVE THE AACN PCCN DVD AND THEY ARE REALLY GREAT I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEY COST 235 BUT WILL BE WELL WORTH THE MONEY , THE OTHER PROGRAM COST 200 I WILL BE RESCHEDULING THE TEST:uhoh3:
