First, I would get the book by Mary McDonald called something like "Pre entrance testing for LPN/LVN programs". That book will help you with certain sections on the test (like the science section).
Second, did you take the SAT's in high school? The math section is alot like that. You will be given different symbols and the questions will be like "this (shape) is to this as this is to ______". My mind seems to be able to understand these real easy so I didn't have any trouble with that. However, if you do have trouble seeing the relationship between two symbols, maybe check out a book at your local library for SAT prep.
Third, how is your spelling? There will be a section on the test where they will give you a word spelled different ways. Of course, only one is right and you have to decide which one it is. If you are pretty good with spelling, don't worry about it.
Last, there is a vocational adjustment section. It has questions that would relate to nursing. Such as "If you saw a patient fall, what would you do?". Then they would give you four answers to choose from. Just choose the most logical to you and you should do fine.
I believe there is one more section on the test, but it was more like personality or attitude or something. I think they were true/false questions like "Do you believe the apple doesn't fall far from the tree?".
I scored in the 96 percentile. Do I think it was hard? No. It just required you to "think" in a different way. If you can do that, you won't have a problem.
Good luck.
