Hi! I'm new here to allnurses, and I plan on attending PBCC's (newly PBSC) nursing program, but I'm wondering if I should enter the full-time trek or the part-time trek. The full-time trek can be either 3,4, or 5 days a week on the lake worth campus, and the part-time trek is two days a week, with evening classes either on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday night and Saturday morning clinicals, I believe. I plan on working while I'm enrolled so I'm trying not to take on more than I can handle, but I would rather the full-time program so that I can have my week-ends to myself and not have to attend school year-round and for an additional 8 months. My question pertains to the full-time program: Are their evening classes for the full-time program, or are they mostly morning? Also I'm interested in taking my lectures online to cut down the amount of days I must spend on campus. Any of you guys attend the nursing program full-time while working as well?

you can look up the classes on PBSC web site under the search for classes button and it will tell you the hours each class, lab and clinical runs. i don't believe that the part time program takes applications until spring. have you applied for the fall program? and if so how many points?
No, I haven't applied for fall. I'm going to be applying for spring whether I choose full-time or part-time because I still have my chemistry class to finish (in which I am currently enrolled) and Human Growth & Development, which I am taking during the second half of summer, and those are the last of my prereqs as far as classes go. The deadline for fall enrollment is June 1st so I'll most definitely miss that, plus I still have to take the NLN exam, which I'll be taking in September, and the nursing pro calc, which I'll be taking soon. As far as points go I won't be able to say until I take the NLN exam, but I've been doing what I can to strengthen my application for when I do apply. I have most of the co-reqs accomplished because I was previously majoring in something else, so I have a lot of credit hours already accomplished and I think that gives additional points. Also, I recently became a certified nursing assistant so hopefully I'll be able to get points for the health-related experience portion. Thanks for your advice. I will try looking up the classes and see what I can pull up.
No problem and good luck. Hopefully I'll be accepted for fall :)
I hope you get accepted as well. Do you feel that you have a good chance of getting in? Also, thanks once again for the course search tip. It was incredibly helpful. It listed reference numbers and everything. I'm definitely going to have to stay on top of the exact classes and what teachers I want to take because those classes fill up fast.

I was wondering for those that got in the RN programs what was your GPA and NLN score? Thanks I rly appreciate it.
My entrance GPA was 3.4 and my points were 31 something
Your points for what exam did you get 31?
My total points were 31.something
I took the NLN, I scored in the 98 percentile and got the full 10 points.

Hi, Just wanted people to know I'm working towards a Aug 2011 or Jan 2012 entry into PBSC. Any info people want to share/discuss with me is helpful. Lots I don't know.
Hi. I'm going to be applying for the August 2011 term. One thing I'm glad to find out about is that they starting August 2011 PBSC will no longer be accepting the NLN exam but will be using the HESI exam. Those NLN seats fill up so fast! And then once they fill up you have to wait another 6 months before you can register again. I don't think it's the same way with the HESI exam. There are more testing days for the HESI exam. That's one new thing I learned that I wanted to share. Also I believe application deadlines for the Fall term is June 1st.
P.S. Since creating this thread I found out that it doesn't really matter whether you apply for full-time or part-time. Once you've been accepted I believe they give you a certain amount of times per year that you can switch between being a full-time nursing student or a part-time nursing student, regardless of which one you applied to.
