There are other recent threads if you do a search. BSN typically doesn't pay more, but it is more likely to get you the job. Currently though, in the California economy there are very few places hiring even experienced RN's
I think new grads make 28 to 29/hr or so, so a nurse with two years experience maybe 31/hr? I'm not the best resource on this. The cost of living is fairly high in regards to what they are paying too. I do work with a couple nurses (we're about 2 hours north of San Diego) who left San Diego because the pay was much better here, but we're also over an hour 1/2 away from the beach.
been applying for jobs in SD. with my research, i'd say you'll get around 40$/hr with benefits since you are in a specialty unit.. without benefits, you'll definitely get more.. maybe around $8.hr more. apartments are expensive. but I guess you won't have to worry about it because you'll have a place to stay in. it's kind of hard to get a job though. I was at a job fair last week, an HR personnel said they had about 250 application for one position. so it's taking them so long to look at them.
Are you sure about specialty pay? I have yet to hear of a hospital that does pay that. If my co-workers had been offered 40/hr they would have stayed in San Diego. That could be possible if it is for a weekender position though. Otherwise, I don't see those wages happening for someone with 2 years experience.

I'm an ER nurse with 2 years experience and trying to find the pay scales for RN's w/ BSN's in the SD area. I'm trying to see if the move to SD to be with the GF is worth it or does she need to move to the Memphis area.
