I was just wondering if anyone knows about hospitals/nursing homes or anywhere for that matter that either help pay for your nursing education or reimburse you for it. I already have way too many student loans out for one degree and I really can not afford to take out anymore. And also, can someone tell me which is a better route to take. I'm planning on enrolling in a community college which only offers me an associate RN, should I instead go to a University where they offer a bachelors degree? Thank you so much for taking your time.....

The ASN program will be fine if you don't want to go into management, usually need the BSN for that. As for paying, I can't help there, I'm using loans.

Call around to your local hospitals! They will usually pay for school if you sign a contract to work for them after school! I am going ADN route w/student loans. I didn't opt for the hospital route, because I don't want to be tied down to one place. But if you know you want to work @ that particular hopital, then its a good deal. You always have option to go back for BSN later.

Hey thanks for the advice, and yeah now that I think about it, I don't know yet where I want to work and I wouldn't want to be tied down either.. Looks like I'll just have to tack on some more loans... Oh well, it'll be worth it.. Thanks again!

well, a CC will cost less (smaller loans) than a university. Then you can start working as an RN a bit sooner than at a universtiy too. You can also look into employers that will pay your loans based on a contract after you graduate. And if you want to continue your education further after you graduate, you can also find many employers that will pay for your continued education. Research your area/locations you would like to work at. Check out their website, check out adverts, call their HR, ask around when you get into school with other nursing students. It can totally be done!
