Paying for BSN

Published

Hello everyone,

I am a second semester Nursing student and although I am almost close to getting my BSN degree, it is getting a bit tough financially to pay for everything. Can anyone provide me with a different route of paying for nursing that maybe I haven't heard of yet? I am aware of financial aid and different scholarships. But how about companies that offer to pay your books and tuition in return for you working some years for them after graduation and pasing NClex.

Thank you.

I know some hospitals in the past had "adopt a student" programs when they would pay for school in exchange for a 2 yr contract but in this economy I don't think these programs exist anymore.

I'm starting a BSN nursing program in Aug and just signed a contract with a hospital where they pay everything except books and I pay back in time once I've passed the nclex. I don't even have to work there until I'm done w school! I think its great now and after I graduate bc I will be gaurenteed a full time job as soon as I pass the nclex. I will say though, there was no advertising for this. I had vaguely remembered overhearing someone talk about this so I just called the nursing admin dept of the hospital and asked. I'm glad I did bc they only take 8 a graduating year and I took the last spot. Good luck to you.

thank you for your reply!

thanks for the reply

That is amazing offer from the hospital. What state do you live in?

I live in Indiana, and I agree! I'm most excited about not having to job search as a brand new nurse.

im from indiana too; what hospital? when do you graduate?

Specializes in Critical Care, Med-Surg, Psych, Geri, LTC, Tele,.

I'm going to mention some more ideas: Is there any kind of work that you can do while in school? I know, that, to me it seems like it's impossible. Then again, I occasionally read or hear about students who work weekends or overnights in CNA/Home Health/Clinics while in school. What about blogging for income? There are so many nurse blogs, maybe you would enjoy creating one and then monetizing it. What about working at home or on campus?
