pay per visit

Published

Our home health agency was recently bought by Amedisys, which pays per visit and I am currently salary. Can anybody tell me what the pay is for a regular visit, recert, post hospital, start of care, and discharge?:nurse: Everyone gets paid something different and I can't seem to get a straight answer.

Please indicate what area or state you are in so that people who are in your area can respond. There can be wide differences in prevailing wages depending on the area of the country. For what it is worth, I was offered $25 per visit but with no mileage, in case I did visits rather than shifts. I have found that this area, southern Cali, generally pays lower than in the northern part of the state.

I am in florida.

Specializes in LTC/hospital, home health (VNA).

I am salary too, but when I am oncall and need to make a visit we get reimbursed per visit made. If it is a regular revisit then it's $49 and if it is an admission or higher tech visit like IV/TPN, vent, etc then it's $65 a visit plus the mileage to/from visits.

For those who have worked on salary in HH, how much is a starting full-time salary in your area? If you get paid per visit, what does that work out to for a year's salary? I've been offered a position, and we need to start negotiating, but I haven't much of a clue what a reasonable starting salary is for a newbie. Anybody?

BEWARE of those per visit offers! You will end up working a whole lot of extra hours outside of the housecall with redundant paperwork and not getting paid because it falls under the "per visit pay". I figured out my pay at an average of $15 an hour - gross. Mileage isn't fully compensated if at all and you don't get paid for driving time either which can add up to hours. Amedisys is also very "write up happy" for "performance improvement" you are set up to fail and rarely is it otherwise. You are expected to be 100% 100% of the time and with all of the "little" rules, it is impossible to be 100% 100% of the time with Amedisys.
