PAY FOR NEW GRADUATE RN's FOR COLUMBIA/ST LOUIS MISSOURI AREA

Published

I graduate from nursing school in May 2014. I took my board and I PASSED!!! I am moving to Columbia MO. Have applying to different hospital around Columbia, jeff city and st Louis. Did anybody know the pay rate for new grad without experience around this location. University of Missouri Hospital offer me 19.50$ as base. I feel that is way too small for a BSN RN. Do you think I should negotiate on the pay with them??? PLEASE I WANT TO KNOW THE PAY FOR OTHER HOSPITAL AROUND COLUMBIA, JEFF CITY AND ST. LOUIS BEFORE I ACCEPT THE OFFER???

That's a fairly normal starting pay for no experience from what i understand.

This is a year old thread but wanted to put my 2 cents in. I graduated the same time (May 2014). My first job was at Fulton Reception and Diagnostic Center in Fulton Missouri. The evening shift pay was $25 per hour and the night shift was $27 per hour. It really was not a good place to work for nurses in my opinion. The training was lacking and there are a couple of nurses that are bullies and there are things done there I thought were unethical. I ended up leaving after 4 months when they switched to 16 hour shifts. I would have left anyway, it just sped up the process. After that, I worked at Fulton State Hospital for $26 per hour for evening shift. The pay and benefits were great but they have mandatory hold overs constantly. If they don't have a nurse to come relieve you, you have to stay for 8 more hours. This happens constantly. I had to stay over several times. Even after you work for 16 hours, you still have to come in for your next regular shift. This place has significant issues with bullying, certain employees that don't do any work, sexual harrassment issues, etc. Boone Hospital still starts new grads at $19.50 as does MU Health Care. I found a job at The Neighborhoods by Tiger Place. It also starts new grads at $19.50 but they treat their employees really well. The only thing it's lacking is high pay. If you want any more details, inbox me. I want to help save others some aggravation.
