pay differential, raises,bidding,benefits

Hi, so I recently got offered a position at a hospital on a telemetry/med surg. floor. It is union 7-3 part time with rotating weekends/holidays. I was wondering what do you get for pay differential on weekends and is pay differential on weekends usually common? Also when did you get your first raise and how much was it? When do you think that I can start bidding on full time etc? Now of course I see 2 day full time positions posted. Waiting for paperwork..not exactly sure what they are supposed to be sending me..but hopefully it will be soon! I heard part time benefits can be expensive..how much do yours cost?

I only worked at one place where it was unionized( and I hated it..did not see how the place benefited from having a union, but I digress), and the union that was there was SEIU. This is how it worked: I think twice a year, the employees in the union (which was everyone but management) got a 2% pay raise. Shift differentials vary by facility, the unionized facility that I worked @ did not offer shift differentials, but I have worked at some who do offer it, and usually 2nd shift gets about .50 more per hour, and then 3rd shift gets about a .75 more per hr..and on weekends all shifts got a $2 differential. Now for a status change, most places I have worked at will not let you change from PRN to part-time, or part-time to full-time until you are through with your probation period(3 months). Again, it really depends on your facility though, and HR can explain it to you.

Thanks. Yeah I thought I would have to come in to talk to someone about questions, details etc. I was told since I interviewed with a recruiter, (its usually a nurse manager) that I dont have to come in. So yeah nothing was explained to me. Im supposed to be getting something in the mail, who knows when and am not sure exactly what it will be. I mean you figure people have questions right?! lol
