I hate it when politicians add "pork" to a bill. But I am glad they tacked one particular pork add-on, the Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008. This bill requires insurance companies to cover mental health and chemical dependency treatment as they do for other chronic diseases.
IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!!

Do you have any web information?
A quote from the link below:
The Senate supporters of parity issued statements applauding the vote. “We are ushering in a new era of health care for those with mental illnesses,” said Domenici — who, like Ramstad, is about to retire. “No longer will we allow mental health to be treated as a stepchild in the health-care system. If you have insurance, then your mental health care must be equal to the benefits you get for any other disease.”

It's about time. It's been a 20 year long fight. I look forward to not having to "ration" the number of visits I can make to my psychARNP for a change!
