patient transport vs. patient companion ?

Published

hi guys...i recently got a job as a patient transporter i was really excited that i finally got into the hospital and i start may 31st ill work M-F 4-8 but i also have applied for other jobs. Today i just got a call for an interview for a patient companion job which is a flex hours and for this hospital its basically like a NA job ut more one on one with the patient and keeping them busy/monitoring them. I am taking a micro bio class in the summer and i will be starting nursing school in the fall. My questions are:

What would you do take both jobs?

Which job do you think would be better for me?

Should I still call them back and tell them im not able to have an interview because I did accept a different job prior to this one?

Specializes in Hospital Education Coordinator.

you will learn from both so decide based on hours, pay etc

Specializes in Neuro/ MS.

You should be able to do both. If the PC is prn and you only have to do so many hours a month that is great because you can adjust your schedule around class and test. I usually study when I pick up as a PC. Good luck in school.

i called them back and the hours are rotation of all shifts, id like the job but i really dont think ill be able to do it. i have an interview tomorrow but im tempted to cancle it because i feel like im wasting their time. what do you think?
