Patient Tech @ Dialysis Clinic - limiting?

Published

I've been offered a Patient Tech position at a Dialysis clinic while I wait for Nursing School to start (Fall 2011). I am a new CNA and think this would be a great opportunity to gain some patient care experience but I am worried this work will limit my experience and possibly hurt me when I'm a new Grad looking for an RN position. Am I over analyzing?? Should I work at a hospital instead? Any advice is appreciated.

I don't know because I've never worked a dialysis clinic. I do remember seeing a thread a while back where RN's were saying that working at a dialysis clinic is limiting however. But working there does have its pro's. A former coworker of mine worked for a pretty large clinic around here & she said it paid better than LTCs and even hospitals. The downside though was she said it can get repetitive after awhile.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do :)
