This article from last year has been making the rounds through social media, so I was curious to see what our APNs here on AN think about it.
Does patient satisfaction, or worse, the threat of patient dissatisfaction effect your practice?

I work in a large (19 MD, 5 APN/PA) nephrology practice. My job is rounding in five geographically separated chronic dialysis units which are owned by one of the big two.
While we do not have Pres Gainey, we do have a yearly satisfaction survey done by the dialysis companies. There is only one question that addresses satisfaction with provider and it is actually addressed to the physicians.
Up until this past year we (neph practice) have had no competition. However, there is another neph practice in town now and so customer satisfaction is certainly a by-word. In the immunocompromised population, we give a lot, repeat a lot of antibiotics and we give the big guns, aminoglycosides.
So....are we antibiotic stewards? Nope probably not.
