I am currently enrolled into college full time and I have a interview tomorrow for a patient safety sitter at my local hospital. I was wondering if anyone has any advice and will me having this position look better on my nursing school application? That’s not what it’s about of course, just curious!

Getting a foot in the door as a sitter can lead to getting a student nurse position down the road if you do a good job! And of course you get to know the units and the people- so that's helpful in networking.

This isn't a nursing job per se, but if you are helpful and keep your assigned person safe, you might parlay it into a nursing assistant job as you progress thorugh school, and thence to a job after you graduate from your program. Don't count chickens and all that, but it never hurts to get your foot in the door. You will also have the opportunity to ask a lot of questions of the nurses-- take advantage of that. Ask them why they do what they do in nursing, and more importantly, why they don't do what they don't do. YOu'll get some interesting ideas.
