I'm currently in Pathophysiology and we have to do between 20 & 25 pathos every week. The pathos are to include 2 sentences explaining the patho at cell/tissue level, 1 explaining the etiology, 1 with 3 clinical manisfestations, 1 with diagnostic tool/s, 1 with a nursing consideration, and 1 with 3 nursing interventions. The problem I'm having is how do you determine nursing interventions for an imaginary patient with no symptoms and no nursing diagnosis? Oh, and everything has to be referenced from a reputable source...so I can't write something that I would do knowing I would do it based on experience.

I would use a good nursing diagnosis handbook. One, because they are full of interventions and rationale. Two, because they offer you a good source to cite. Perhaps use the patho manifestations to look up a nursing diagnosis that fits, and use those interventions.
I must say, your Pathophysiology class sounds brutal- mine was just lecture, discussion board entries, and exams.

Give me one of your patho's and I can lead you to a reliable source. Every diasease pathology has sympotoms that accompany it....you then take that symptom and figure out what you would assess for and what you would do about it if the patient presented with a "textbook"picture perfect pathology.
Give me an example and I'll show you.
Thank you both very much for your responses. I just now learned how to get back to my posted threads! Sometimes I think nursing school has knocked the common sense out of me!
