Hey everyone! I started Pathophysiology last week and I'm taking it over the summer. I've enjoyed the class so far but I have a question for anyone that can help me!! My professor handed us 2 case studies due this week and didn't tell us anything else. I have no idea about the format, how to answer the questions or ANYTHING!! Please please please if ANYONE can help me please let me know on here or email me at: [email protected]. Thanks in advance!!

Can't you contact the instructor and ask what he/she wants?

Or ask a fellow student?

I would also recommend contacting your professor, it should say in your syllabus for the class how to get a hold of him/her. I would love to help you but would need way more information about the assignment and what the professor tells you they are looking for. I tutor pathophysiology at the college I attend. Let me know if I can do anything else. Really, though, talk to your professor or get together with a classmate. Might be a quicker fix that way. Good luck! You can PM me if you want.

in general, when you are doing case studies you want to list the signs and symptoms that are leading you to come to the conclusion that the patient has xxxx disease condition. then you want to give a description of that particular disease, it's etiology (causes), it's pathophysiology, all the known signs and symptoms that go with the disease, the diagnostic tests that are done to diagnose it (don't forget to include, lab, x-rays, biopsies), and the treatments for it (including medications, surgery, other modalities).

here is a website that can help you with the signs and symptoms, diagnostic tests and some of the treatments that can be ordered for all kinds of medical diseases http://www.fpnotebook.com/index.htm use the search box to input a disease and you will get returns of link(s) to pages of outlines of the information.

the thing about case studies is that you are often given very general information or the information is given so to move you to a particular group of diseases. sometimes you will be given a few red herrings that don't seem to fit with the other symptoms in the case study. sometimes there is one very specific symptom that is unique to certain diseases that the case study is trying to point out to you. there are posts scattered throughout this forum and the pre-nursing forum of students who have asked for help with case studies, some as recently as within the past month.

Thank you all for your help! I will try out that website. I have already contacted a few friends in class as well so we can help each other. Thanks again!!
