Pat Brenner's nursing modeling theory-

Nurses General Nursing

Published

anybody know it? (The student forum isn't working). My leadership and management final is tomorrow, and we need to know her theory, the parts of the model, and the clinical ladders, etc....I cannot find it in my notes ANYWHERE, and looking online hasn't helped me much.....

thanks all!

p.s. I'm NUTS. Med surg final Thursday, lottery for our preceptorship on Friday, case study final Wednesday, ATI for med surg Wed, leadership final tomorrow.... and I'm getting married this SATURDAY. I am nuts!!!!!

No stress about wedding- just about school! My last CDH midterm I got an 82....so I can't really screw up on the final! (Not much room too, at least).

Thanks again in advance, if anyone can find that stuff for me!

Try looking for Patricia Benner, not Brenner. Her book, From Novice to Expert, is a classic. It takes time to learn nursing and her book traces the stages one goes through and the changes in thinking that come with experience. Your school library should have this book. She is my favorite because she recognizes the value that nursing experience brings to the profession. Yes, education is important but Benner states that nursing needs to capture the unique knowledge that comes with experience. Good luck with all that's on going on with you....

Specializes in Surgery, ICU, Emergency Care, NP.

Try this link it takes you to a description of the stages

It is easy to read. With interviews and analysis Pat proves the value of experience.
