Hi,
COuld anyone give me a little insight to other free programs for the CNA classes in NYC. I recently took the TABE exam but I got too high and the teacher said I should look into the LPN, however the test for the LPN is much more harder than the CNA. Also, I don;t have the time at this specific moment to do the LPN. My Dilema is due to the fact of passing the TABE too high I can;t get into the free program because at the Brooklyn Adult Learning Center, they only want people that score below a 7 in both the English and Math. I however got above 11, so can someone please give me some insight as to where else would I be able to enroll for free CNA classes in NYC before the year 2010 is over please. I am so discourage and ****** because I can't get in because I scored too high. Did anyone have this problem and if so what did they do?

Wow I can't believe they wouldn't let you take the CNA course becaused you tested too high. I live about a hundred miles of NYC and as long as your meet other requirements financially and economically you can take the test for free. The TABE requirement here is 11 or better. If you score lower you have to take a refresher GED like program until you test out 11 or better.
Well... here it's not the case at Brooklyn Adult learning center. They only want students score to be at an 8 or below. So now I am stuck because I don't know where else I should go that would give me the free courses. The nursing homes don't do it anymore here in NYC.

This is such a shame. The cheapest CNA course that I know of is from Access Careers. I believe its 600. if all else fails paying may be your only option.
