I took the NCLEX in Tx during June. After studying Saunders comp. review and question/answer book for 3 mos straight, I really felt prepared. I was scoring in the 90s on the test questions so I felt I was ready.
Then, I saw the test. It was a beast!!! It was not easy at all. I began to panic after the machine did not shut off at 75. I had 200 questions with some noticeable repeats. I left feeling quite baffled wondering if I studied the wrong review book. At any rate, I immediately left town to relax and get the test out of my mind (yeah right). I felt so bad about my performance that I refused to get the quick results and was determined to wait for the results by mail. Then, I would deal with whatever came next.
Well, I recieved my results and I passed by the grace of God.
Best wishes to everyone, you CAN do it.

I am so pleased for you in passing your NCLEX-RN, I am a nurse in England and I am hoping that the Florida Board will allow me to take the NCLEX-RN. I would love to be able to take it in October, so please keep your fingers crossed. Any good tips regarding the exam?
Take care.

CONGRATULATIONS!! Yes that exam is very hard, i have to take mine for the second time, i too hope to pass as you have. I am very happy for you. Good luck with your new career as a nurse! :)
You will pass. :)
These three words you put together so nicely put tears to my eyes. Thank you for that. It made my day. Initally I was only using saunders, and scoring very high as you had. But it was not enough for me to pass. This time I am using the Kaplan complete. Im doing better at answering questions, and hope it works. Thank you once again.
And once again Congratulations!!!!

These are found in Saunders, too. My tips would be:
1) Be rested and have good breakfast (just in case it takes you longer than you think)
2) Know how to prioritize like the back of your hand
3) Know the side effects and uses of common drugs
4) Know how to calculate drugs for every route.
5) The computer may not shut off at 75, but stay calm. You can still pass.

See, this is the reason I stopped using Saunders. A friend of mine was doing fine and he got about 230 questions. This is a guy that would score 90 or above on Saunders. He said Kaplan was too hard.
Focus on Effective Care a lot. Also, watch the vids.
I will make sure to keep checking until I know you pass. I am positive you will pass. Now, please wish me luck for Friday :uhoh21:

That is so wonderful... Congratulations!!! i know this is the most dreaded part for every nursing student so to hear that students are passing and being successful really encourages those of us that are about ready to face it in a couple months. Best of luck to you in your upcoming career.

Thank you for the advice, I will pray for you. I know you will pass. My prayers are with you. Just go in with a active mind , all the answers are there, as our teacher use to say. You will do just fine. I started to watch the videos today, i was watching the physiological videos..the ones where they have cushings, addisons, and all the other disorders/disease. Yes I will keep you and everyone posted. My date is also coming close, but not as close as yours. ..Good luck with your exam!!:nuke:
