I took the nclex for the first time over 8 months ago and failed miserably. I went in confident that I would do okay and didn't put any effort into studying...Boy, was I wrong.
Life happened and I got married and moved several states away and started working in an unrelated field, but the NCLEX was always in the back of my mind.
This past Friday I took the test for the second time and PASSED!! I used the NCSBN learning extension and I have got to say that the course is worth every penny! My only regret is that I only signed up for the 3 week course as opposed to one of the longer time spans.
I feel as if everything in my exam was covered on the course website. Unfortunetly, it was so full of information that I ran out of time before I finished it. I currently work 2 jobs and wasn't able to dedicate more than an hour or two for studying most days.
I also listened to some of the HURST Lectures and read through the strategies in the Kaplan review book.
And of course prayed...a lot.
One prayer that I found especially helpful was the prayer to St. Joseph of Cupertino,
O St. Joseph of Cupertino who by your prayer obtained from God to be asked at your examination, the only preposition you knew. Grant that I may like you succeed in the (here mention the name of Examination) examination. In return I promise to make you known and cause you to be invoked.
O St. Joseph of Cupertino pray for me
O Holy Ghost enlighten me
Our Lady of Good Studies pray for me
Sacred Head of Jesus, Seat of divine wisdom, enlighten me.
Also, I tried the Pearson vue trick about 1 hr after my exam and got the good pop up. I had a hard time believing it and spent a lot of time looking up post that said that the trick did not work. This morning I paid for the quick results and happily enough it said pass next to exam grade. :)
Good luck everyone!
