So I came to this site so many times while studying for the NCLEX for tips and just motivation and to calm my nerves because I was stressed!! I wanted to share my story and what worked for me and hopefully it helps someone else! First off I graduated december 2014 and before graduation my nursing school made us take the ATI cumulative exam to predict how you would do on NCLEX. We also did ATI threw nursing school which is torture. I always got a level 1 and just really never did well on ATI. I graduated with a 3.5 GPA so I was a pretty good student. According to ATI I had a 20% chance of passing NCLEX on the first try (passed first try in 85 questions)!! So off the bat ATI really crushed my hopes of getting threw this hugeeee mountain called NCLEX.
.Starting in January I did the hurst online review. I would listen to the lectures while at the gym, laying on the couch, really anytime I could.
.I did kaplan in class review. Which I really attribute 80% to me passing NCLEX. It is amazing!!!! I went to all the classes and then did all of the trainer tests, diagnostic tests, and the readiness test. I also completed the entire 1300 questions qbank. I would write down everything I didnt know and then a week before my test I went back and did all of the questions that I got wrong again. Until they were all right.
.I bought the Lipincott NCLEX review book and did all 6 comprehensive exams in the back on the book. They are like 200 questions each. I highlighted what I got wrong and went back about a week before the test and quickly reviewed what was wrong.
.Exam cram book-got it on amazon-Did the first 6 chapters and also comprehensive exam 1 which was about 200 questions.
-The LaCharity delegation book that everyone recommends its on amazon-this is amazing! I had about 40 SATA questions and this week really helped with that so if this is your weak area get this book!!
-Finally I used Saunders NCLEX review book-I did up to chapter 40 on that. Didnt read anything just did the questions.
-The last thing I did was use the website PREPU and I specifically did pharm and another section that I was weak on according to Kaplan. Probably about 200 questions.
-I made a quick study guide and some flashcards 2 days before the test of just things I wanted to remember and then the day before the test I did a few more questions on Kaplan and then just went over the flash cards.
GOOD LUCK and literally the key is to do as many DIFFERENT types of questions as possible and RELAX during the test. One question at a time-look at the day of the test as an exciting day and the start of your future-not a mountain you have to climb!
