Hi. I just wanted share my experience. I just passed ANCC FNP exam today 5/14/2015. I haven't seen many threads about the boards and wanted to help others because these reviews really helped me!
I think I really focused studying for about a month. Here are some of the materials I used.
1. Barkley review CD. - I think you need at least one type of review course. It was fun to listen to. I listened the CD my first week and took notes on the review book.
2. Fitzerald Review book - I had an old copy that my friend gave me in 2013. After each system I would read the section from here. It helped me to understand some better.
3. Leik Review book - This was my go to book. It was a lot easier to read and contained many useful tips for the exam. When I listened to Barkely CD the second time I used this book as my notes and created my own Barkley + Leik review book. This was very helpful .
4. Family NP Prep Exam Edge - They provide test bundles. I bought 10 bundle. 100 questions per test. I did like 2. This had too many theory questions that none were on the actual exam. I wouldn't suggest buying it.
5. APEA practice exam (150 questions) - If you want a practice test, buy this one. It's cheaper but questions are more pertinent to ANCC and you get to practice how to take the exam on the computer.
My exam was about 50% non clinical and 50% clinical questions. Many Derm, DM, Research, Nursing leadership, Culture, Hypertension, Hypderlipidemia management questions. Just a few GYN + Peds developmental questions. A lot of multiple answer questions but exam specifies how many correct answer to pick so that was helpful. Good amount of drag-drop questions (fairly easy).
I remember someone telling me that at the end of the test, you will see the result but it didn't show until you get a print out from the proctor. So that was like 2 min but the longest 2min in my life!
Anyway, that's all. Good luck!

Congratulations Kmkm. I passed the ANCC back in March. I sat at the computer for about 5 minutes holding my breath and waiting to see either pass/fail on the screen. Finally I walked out the testing area and the proctor handed me a piece of paper with a smile on his face saying congratulations you passed! I was overjoyed.
