I made it thought the clinical portion of the Red Cross exam - unfortunately I underestimated Boston's morning rush hour and had to reschedule the written part...but for me, I was most fearful of the clinical portion and I'm just glad that's behind me. I would rather what happened yesterday vs the other way around.
Anyway, the reason I was fearful because as an ADN student, we didn't really practice all of the CNA skills that was eligible to be tested - fortunately I glanced through a list of the skills during the past couple of days and it's a good thing I did because I was assigned one skill I wasn't familiar with (cleaning and smoothing out pt's nails)...I almost couldn't remember how to do it and almost felt like I was winging it...but I passed. The other two skills (hand washing and putting a shirt on pt who couldn't use his left arm) were pretty straight forward...I think the fact that I was very conscious of safety (bed rails, bed level, call bell) and privacy (pulling the curtain, etc) saved the day for me:-)
So I've been practicing for the written part of the test and thus far, I've been doing very well with these questions - so (knock on wood) I should be ok once I get the new date (they said the new date will probably be in about a month, but I'll receive the exact date in the mail)
